Acne Treatments - Get Rid Of That Damaged Layer On Top- Try The Following Techniques

By: Alien

Acne becomes a source of stress and embarrassment for many people. The stress of acne is often due to the scars that it leaves behind. So, the dermatologists in their effort to treat blemishes have developed techniques for treating acne scars as well. Treating acne simply does not do if you don't take care of the post acne developments. This article briefly outlines six of the treatments.

* Dermabrasion is a treatment that has been around for a long time. This approach to treat acne scars involves using a brush that rotates at a high speed, removing the scarred area. Originally, people used sandpaper to slather off dead and damaged skin. Dermabrasion is most effective on shallow acne scars.

* Laser resurfacing is another approach used to treat shallow acne scars. This procedure costs twice as much as dermabrasion, but some argue that the results are superior. Laser resurfacing uses lasers to remove the damaged skin.

* Chemical peels are quite popular right now. This procedure is relatively inexpensive, costing about seven-hundred and fifty dollars per treatment. This resurfacing approach uses acids to remove the damaged skin. Chemical peels are only recommended for very mild acne scars and will not be effective on significant scarring.

* Punch techniques remove severe acne scars. There are three basic punch techniques. The first involves removing the scar with a surgical hole-punch and replacing it with a skin graft. The second removes the scar and allows it to heal naturally and the third elevates the scar instead of removing it all together.

* Like the third punch technique, subcision elevates the acne scars instead of removing them completely. The scarred skin is detached from the surrounding skin allowing adequate blood flow beneath it.

Deep acne scars can also be treated with augmentation, which fills the scarred area with collagen or fat. The major benefit of augmentation is there is no recovery time necessary. A major drawback is the results last for only a few months.

Acne Treatments - Getting To The Bottom Of Acne Causes

By: Alien

It would be safe to say that all of us, at one point or the other in our lives, have experienced the pain and embarrassment of acne. While it is a very common occurrence, especially in the teenage years, acne causes a great deal of fear, embarrassment and even depression among people. Most people are not sure what causes acne in the first place. Even medical professionals have only a handful or reasons to attribute to acne causes. But all of us suffer from it and the pharmaceutical industry profits a great deal from the numerous lotions and potions that consumers hungrily consume to deal with acne.

While there could be several acne causes, the most commonly attributed one is that of poor hygiene. This is however, not an acne cause and should be treated as the myth that it is in reality. Actual acne causes could range from hormonal imbalances in the teenage body to the blocking up of a hair duct. Other common acne causes include the infection f the sebaceous gland, excessive oil secretion and even combination of the above. In some rare cases, acne causes could be attributed to poor or ineffectual diet. But whatever the acne causes, it is better to visit a dermatologist to find out the exact source of the acne and to find out the best way to eradicate it.

Most people, myself included, choose to ponder over the acne causes in the comfort and safety of their homes before they do the obvious thing. They go down to the nearest pharmacy to procure one of the several acne treatment products available. And to be honest, the shelves are full of them! American and global pharmaceuticals are well aware of the nearly obsessive compulsion of all human beings to get rig of acne. And they have left no stone unturned to provide us with as many remedies and near remedies as possible. But turning to these products without determining the acne causes could result in more harm than good.

After all, what is the benefit in spending a fortune in acne treatments if you don’t know what causes acne in the first place. As discussed, the acne causes are many. And are different from one individual to another. So what works for a friend or an acquaintance need not work for you. Unless one is able to consult a dermatologist to ascertain the acne causes, there is no sure way of finding the solution. And the best thing is that when the dermatologist is able to identify what the acne causes are, there might just be a miracle prescription drug that will cure you of all acne just like that. Imagine the money and the heartache saved in the process!

Know Throughly The Causes Behind Your Acne

By: Alien

According to some studies, certain hormones known as androgens trigger the formation of acne as they enlarge the sebaceous glands in the skin. They then cause these oil-producing glands to increase sebum or oil production, which then leads to the formation of plugs and served as more food for the acne-causing bacteria. These hormones are actually present in both men and women, and usually surge at puberty. This fact will explain why teenagers develop armpit and pubic hair, and why boys develop facial hair and deeper voices, other than why acne forms.

Another potent cause of acne is the bacteria that normally thrive on the skin. These bacteria are known as Propionibacterium acnes, and they are responsible for causing the condition to develop. According to certain studies, acne developed as these bacteria emit substances that trigger redness and inflammation. Aside from that, they also make enzymes, which then dissolve the sebum or oil into the irritating substances that make the inflammation worse.

Estrogens, the female hormones, also play a large role in the development of acne particularly in girls. It is important to note first that a woman’s monthly menstrual cycle is a result of the changes in the estrogen levels in her body. This can actually explain why this skin condition in a female way get better and then get worse as she goes through her monthly menstrual cycle. For this cause, however, many doctors suggest treatments with birth control pills that contain the helpful estrogens.

Some people also believe that acne is caused by some genetic factors. As you may know, it can run in some families. So, many have thought that if you have parents or relatives who have bad acne, there is also a great possibility that you’ll get it. With the genetic factors, many have claimed that there’s no way for you to stop acne from coming.

Several other possible causes of acne are there which involve, stress, cosmetics, medication and diet. These are just actually minor factors that can cause acne, but many have found out that they are somehow great aggravators of this skin condition. Stress and diet, in particular, don’t actually cause it to form, but many have believed that these two will potentially aggravate acne and some other skin condition you have.

Knowing that no particular cause of acne is determined, perhaps the best move for you to take then is to find the right treatment that can help reduce and eliminate your skin condition to certain level. Consult your doctor for a recommendation.

Learning About The Basics Of Acne

By: Alien

Acne is a skin condition brought about by a host of factors that all contribute to its development. It starts off with an excess production of oil on the skin due to the over activity of body’s skin glands. The body’s hormonal havoc may lead to the plugging and clogging of the pores. When these oils interact with the dead skin cells that line up the pores and the dirt that accumulates from the environment, outbreaks may occur especially when bacteria begins to accumulate.

Genetics play a role in acne. People whose family members have acne will most likely develop acne or have children who will develop the condition. The body’s internal hormonal system also contributes. This is the reason why teeners are more predisposed to it than adults. Acne does not only occur on the face, although they are much visible there. Acne may crop up in different parts of the body but the most common is of course in the neck, at the back and on the shoulders.

There are five kinds of acne. The first common form or stage is known as acne vulgaris. This mild version of acne does not create much vulnerability to your skin. Don't be confused, if you have zits that you can count with your fingers. This is very normal and every mortal suffers from this. Acne vulgaris involves all the whiteheads, blackheads, papules and pustules, which are quite visible. They often have a white or a yellow center. In severe cases of acne vulgaris, a person experiences the development of nodules and even cysts that are filled with pus. This problem arises if it is not not treated carefully at the beginning. You may land up with scarring on your skin.

Another form of acne is the Acne Rosacea, which may appear as the red rash that covers the spaces in between pimples and other blemishes. The condition occurs more often in women than in men and may require specialized treatment and care, as compared to Acne Vulgaris. Acne Conglobata, on the other hand, is more severe as it occurs as interconnected lesions that are dotted with pimples, whiteheads and blackheads. Because of the severity of the condition, this often leads to scarring.

The fourth one is the Acne Fulminans, which is actually similar to Acne Conglobata except that it occurs suddenly. The acne oozes out and the body is even affected, frequently resulting in aching muscles and joints. Males are more affected by this than women.

The last type of acne is Pyroderma Faciale, which can often be seen in women, 20 to 40 years old. This is actually quite severe as it often involves the presence of nodules, sores and some pustules, which will no doubt all lead to scarring in the future. Still, if treated well, the condition will rarely continue or last for longer than a year. The important thing is to have it treated as soon as it crops up.

Acne In Men

By: Alien

Acne, is an anytime uninvited guest in your life. Acne is not a term associated with women only. It is a 'manly' term as well. Men in all age groups carry the possibility of being affected by it. There are various types of acne that might find home on your body but in specific terms Acne Conglobata can attack men greatly. It is a severe form of acne and could really get hostile if not paid heed to.

Men, if suffering from acne on the face, need to take special care. Shaving could be a big problem for them. If you are facing the shaving blues while coping with acne, here are some tips that would make the process easier.

Shaving tips during breakout:

1. Wash your face before you start shaving. Use hot, soapy water and wash it carefully.
2. Apply shaving cream only on the areas that are pimple free and ready to shave.
3. Be careful and do not nick the blemish, because that can be painful and it could bleed and force you to wear a bandage strip all day.
4. Use a fresh, sharp disposable razor and carefully shave around the area.

Make sure you use a razor blade that is both sharp and clean. Most disposable razors can give about two to three shaving sessions before they become too blunt. Once the razor is blunt, throw it away and use a new one. Using a blunt razor can damage the skin and make outbreaks worse.

You will have patches of light or even heavy beard surrounding the outbreak area for some days, but don’t worry about the looks. It is surely better than drawing blood and creating a painful mess on your face.

On the other hand, many teenage young men find the electric shaver very helpful. Many find that by using an electric shaver they worry much less about pimples. In fact, unless the blemish is large and sore, you may be able to shave right over it with an electric razor without doing any harm. If you choose to go the electric shaver route, find a pre-shave lotion that will help the whiskers of your beard to stand up so that they can be shaved off easily. Many of these pre-shave lotions contain alcohol and that can both dry out the skin and be painful if applied to acne. Find a brand that has no alcohol, and if possible one that contains an antibacterial agent that can even help you fight acne. This does not mean that teenagers must use an electric razor. Many can successfully use a blade with little or no problems.

Acne can be well fought if precautions are taken. Moreover, there are a lot of treatment options available for you. And you can choose just the right one, which suits you. Remember, your being a man is not reason enough for acne not to attack you. So keep a check and be extra careful!

Laser Therapy: The Ultimate Acne Cure Today!

By: Alien

Acne spreads all over the world. Men and women of all the age groups are suffered by it. So, newer and more effective treatments are formulated and tested to meet its challenges each day. Researchers are busy giving you the latest score about acne. At this moment, laser therapy is on the rampage. It is supposed to be the best cure, in the given circumstances.

Still, a hoard of queries arise in this context: Is there a total cure for acne? What is the best acne treatment like? Or, for that matter, how many types of acnes are there?

The treatment that makes you (and your skin) forget that you ever had acne is the best treatment. That is, the treatment that restores the ancient glory of your skin is the best treatment.

Now, laser therapy for acne treatment has proved to be very effective, and as on date acne sufferers are willing to pour their money to any extent, as they see a great hope to regain their lost charm due to acne. The treatment helps to heal the lesions and treat even the existing scars permanently. Well laser claims total whitewash of acne!

How does the laser work? The laser treatment uses various “soft pulsing light” intensities and wavelengths which work to reshape the tissues of the scars by making raised scars sink. The redness of the skin around the healed acne pustules is lessened, which ultimately vanishes.

What do the home acne lasers do? They emit a low, red light of constant frequency which stimulates the collagen. With this process, scarring becomes less visible. The whole recovery process gets momentum.

Contrary to popular belief, the low light acne home laser does not emit or produce heat. It does not burn or hurt your tissues. On the top of it, you feel that you have had a fine facial massage, after each part of the laser treatment. Even your existing fine lines and wrinkles are tamed by the laser. So, at the inflammatory stage of the treatment itself, the laser treatment does the job as per your expectations.

Positive results begin to show after 3 to 6 weeks after the laser treatment. Your co-operation in the consistency and continuity of the treatment also matters. If you have a half-hearted approach the results will also be incomplete.

Some dermatologists have a double track strategy to tackle acne. They combine laser therapy, which is also known as microdermabrasion, along with oral antibiotics to get immediate positive results.

On the whole, laser therapy in curing acne is the most acceptable line of treatment as on date.

Acne - Causes, Cure, Treatment of Acne

By: Alien

What is Acne - Information on Acne?

Acne is perhaps the most common chronic Skin disease. It is an inflammatory condition of the sebaceous ( that is fat or grease) glands and hair follicles usually found on the face, the neck, chest and shoulders. Nearly eight out of ten young people between the ages of 12 and 24 suffer from some degree of acne. It is closely related to the disturbance in the hormones experienced at puberty.

Acne is a Skin disease which causes painful social and psychological effects on sufferers. Many people feel that acne has changed their lives. Some feel it has ruined it. At the very least, they feel they have become different people because of this Skin disease (acne), or they have missed chances or let opportunities slip away because of the way they've felt about themselves and the way they look.

The majority of patients recover between the ages 20 and 30 years. But it is still common in men over 30 years. In women, it rarely lasts beyond the early thirties and is normally worse before each menstrual period. The diseases causes a great deal of embarrassment at an age when people tend to be sensitive about personal appearance.

What causes Acne ?

All forms of acne have their origin in wrong feeding habits, such as irregular hours of eating, improper food, excess of starches and sugar, excess of fatty foods. Chronic constipation is another major cause of acne. If the bowels do not move properly, waste matter is not eliminated as quickly as it should be and the bloodstream becomes surcharged with toxic matter. The extra efforts of the skin to eliminate excess waste result in acne and other forms of skin disease. Yet another important cause of acne is a devitalised condition of the skin resulting from unhygienic living habits.

Treatment of Acne - how can one deal with Acne

The treatment of acne by the administration of salve or ointment does not serve any purpose. They only suppress the action of the sebaceous glands temporarily. In nature cure, the main emphasis is on diet and certain water applications. To begin with the patient should resort to all -fruit diet for about a week. IN this regimen, there should be three meals a day, consisting of fresh juicy fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, grape-fruit, pineapple and peaches. Citrus fruits, bananas, dried, stewed or tinned fruits should not be taken. Unsweetened lemon or plain water, either hot or cold, should be drunk and nothing else. During this period, warm water enema should be taken daily to cleanse the bowels and all other measures adopted to eradicate

Proactive Acne Medicines Provide Fast Results

By: Arturo R

Acne medicines that are promoted as proactive are by far the best in the field of acne treatment. This is because proactive medicine not only cures existing acne, but also counters the cycle of recurring breakouts. Proactive acne medicines are among he most potent ones, and produce effect rapidly.

The ingredients that are used in proactive acne medicines should posses the capacity to:

Hunt for and eradicate toxins, free-radicals, and trapped sebum from within the skin.

Maintain the skin pH, preventing the growth of infective agents.

Improve blood circulation beneath the skin and ensure steady availability of nutrients to help rebuild damaged skin.

Protect the skin against environmental pollutants that can trigger acne.

Soothe inflamed skin and retain natural moisture content of the skin.

Certain homeopathic medicines are available in the market that can provide proactive treatment for acne without any objectionable side-effects. Certain ingredients that are often found in proactive acne medicines are:

Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae: This ingredient improves blood circulation and stimulates the immune system of the body, making it strong and fit for fighting against infections.

Aloe Vera: This contains twenty essential amino acids and various alkaloids that assist in soothing and moisturizing the skin.

Dong Quai: This substance also stimulates circulation, helping in draining out of the impurities of the skin.

Herba Lamnae: This material also aids in the removal of waste materials from the skin by improving blood circulation. This allays irritation of the skin and thwarts the growth of undesirable toxin-induced microbes on the skin.

Chamomile: This ingredient allays itching and hastens up the healing course.

Sometimes, oral medications may not provide the best results when used singly. If the use of proactive acne medicines be coupled to proactive treatment methods like Laser acne treatments, then far better results can be achieved.

Laser acne treatments, when performed by licensed doctors, help in the complete obliteration of scars that result from severe acne. This procedure is increasingly being used to treat the root cause of acne as well. Acne sufferers of all ages can be benefited by its use. The treatment sittings last no longer that ten minutes and are rarely accompanied by any side effects.

Laser treatments are mostly advised to patients suffering from severe acne afflictions that do not respond to conventional acne medications. Hence, this therapy is to be utilized only when all other treatment procedures have failed. Prior consultation with a dermatologist is essential.

How Mental Attitude and Digestion Affect Acne

By: Rudy Silva

Mental attitude

Acne is an expression of toxins in the body that are not being released through normal channels of elimination, so they come out through the skin. Since mental attitude and thoughts cannot be separate from the body, thoughts and feelings are also being expressed as acne.

Negative thoughts and feelings produce chemicals that are toxic acids. Just like toxic acids created in the colon, the toxic thoughts need to be eliminated through the 5 elimination channels

Acne can be an expression suppressed past traumatic experiences. As a child, when you were exposed to experiences that overwhelm you - constant mental, physical, or sexually abuse, you suppress them. As now as an adult, as your defense system weakens, you're not able to completely suppress this information, so it becomes expressed as acne or other skin disorders. Of course, these suppressed experiences can be expressed as other diseases.

Acne can also be related to the emotion of fear or anxiety. It can also be an expression of holding onto old junkie or unpleasant memories. It's a way of holding on to and burying the junkie or toxic memory into your face. It is these memories that are trying to surface and, in a usual way, asking you to face them. Many times, you and other people may not want to remember them or deal with them.

To deal with them requires a lot of strength and help from a psychotherapist.

Stomach Acid

Your stomach uses Hydrochloric acid (HCl) to break down protein. It also has many other functions,

" Kills pathogens and microbes and prevents them from getting into the colon and blood
" Controls the adsorption of B12
" Controls the adsorption of iron calcium zinc, copper, magnesium and most B-complex vitamins
" Controls the adsorption of vitamin C
" Created indigestion
" Prevents constipation

When you have low levels of HCl chances are that you will be susceptible to getting acne. HCl can be increased by using a digestive enzyme that contains HCl.

Pancreatic Digestive Enzymes

When the food you eat passes the stomach and enters the small intestine, the pancreas releases digestive enzymes and bicarbonate to help complete the digestive process.

The bicarbonate helps to reduce the acid strength in the food coming from the stomach. The digestive enzymes digest carbohydrates, fats, and protein.

When the pancreas loses its efficiency and starts to release less digestive enzymes, less food is properly digested. This results in more undigested food reaching the colon. When this happens, the undigested food, if it stays to long in the colon, becomes a source for rotting matter and toxic material. This toxic material can get into your blood and cause skin disruption such as acne.

A healthy pancreas, which provides the necessary digestive juices to digest the food you eat, is needed for healthy skin and for eliminating acne and other skin sores and eruptions.

When you have acne or other skin diseases, they are created when there is an in-balance in your body and that includes many different organs and body processes and systems - your thoughts, digestion, liver, kidney, lymphatic system, lungs, and pancreas.

How The Kidney, Lungs, and Lymphatic System Keep You Acne Free

By: Rudy Silva

The kidney

The purpose of the two kidneys is to filter the water in your blood as the blood passes through the kidneys. About 4 gallons of water are filtered every day but only around 3 pints are pulled out as urine.

Alcohol and sugar are the most damaging to the kidney since they kill kidney cells and weaken the kidney function.

Water is the major way the body keeps toxins from accumulating in the body and skin. You need to drink plenty of clean water daily so the kidneys can remove toxins and excess nutrients, vitamins, and minerals from the blood.

When you drink plenty of water, the skin does not have to act as a filter to filter out excess waste from the blood since it is been filter and excreted, as urine, by your kidney.

Water also is needed to keep your skin moist. Water in the skin layers helps to protect the skin from bacteria and toxins that try to pass into your skin.

The more fresh juices you drink and the more fruit or vegetables you eat, the less water you need to drink. All juices contain plenty of distilled water, which contributes to your daily water requirement.

Drinking sodas and other drinks that have sugar cannot be counted as water.

The Lungs

You have two large sacs that are called your lungs. As you breathe in air, the lungs pull oxygen out of the air, which is captured by your blood, routed to your liver, moved into your heart and then moved into all parts of your body.

As you breathe out, waste and carbon dioxide are pushed out through your mouth.

Your cells use oxygen to create energy for you to live by. You need energy for every movement your body does. Oxygen is also used to neutralize toxins, waste and pathogen. The more toxins, acid waste and pathogens you have in your body, the more oxygen is used up to neutralize them. This means you will have less oxygen for cell, organ and other body functions.

If the other elimination channels are weak and overloaded, the lungs will also become overloaded trying to get rid of toxic waste the other channels cannot get rid of.

When your lungs become overloaded with toxins or become weak, more waste stays in the body, making your body more toxic, acidic and susceptible to disease and infections. If you have kidney weakness, liver weakness, lung weakness mostly likely you will have skin disorders like eczema, psoriasis, acne, and many other types of skin disorders.

Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is part of your immune system. It consists of a series of tubes, large and small, that cover your entire body. Through these tubes flows whitish liquid called lymph. Since this system does not have a pump, the lymph is pushed through the tubes by your body's movement or exercise.

Lymph liquid surrounds all of your body cells and is responsible for bringing nutrients to your cells from the blood and to move away toxins that come out of the cells.

Toxins and pathogens that are in your lymph liquid are moved into lymph nodes. In the lymph nodes, this toxic matter is neutralized into harmless chemicals and then moved into the blood and are eliminated through the other channels of elimination.

The lymph liquid is composed of electrolyte minerals such as sodium, potassium, calcium phosphorus, and chloride. So strong lymph liquid is built when you eat fruits and vegetables.

When the lymph nodes become overwhelmed with toxic waste from the cells and the blood, they become inflamed and cannot keep the body free of toxic matter.

Excess toxic waste accumulates in the lymph liquid when your body does not have enough electrolyte minerals to neutralize this toxic acid waste. Now, your body is a considered acid and will have a difficult time fighting infections wherever they occur, including your face.

When you lymph system becomes weaken, it is unable to detoxify toxins and routes them into the blood where the liver is expected to clean the blood.

Keeping you lymph system strong is important for keeping your skin free of blemishes, skin disorders, eczema and acne.

How the Liver Prevents Acne

By: Rudy Silva

The liver is responsible for detoxifying the blood as it comes from the colon, lungs, and lymphatic system. Once detoxified, this blood moves into your entire body to provide your cells with oxygen and digested nutrients.

Because you eat, breathe, and create so many toxins, the liver has a hard time neutralizing these toxins. If you are constipated, this puts an extreme toxic load on your liver, which eventually leads to the excretion of these toxins through your skin and face. Excessive toxins coming out through your skin can lead to acne and other skin disorders.

All cellular wastes, used up hormones, and excess hormones are routed to the liver through your lymphatic system. Once in the liver, the liver starts the detoxifying process. If the liver is overloaded with toxins, it will start to store these toxins in its own cells, in the cells of your organs, in your joints, in your skin, or any other place where the body is weak.

Hormones, such as androgens that are not neutralized by the liver, can get back into the blood and move into the skin cells where they pile up and cause an over production of sebum that will flow into the hair follicle. This over production can cause acne.

Eating good fiber daily can keep your colon clean and free of constipation. Fiber can also trap excess hormones and prevent them from being reabsorbed into your blood through your colon walls.

If you are a typical eater, then most likely you have been surviving on junk food. The quantity of toxic chemical and non-food additives that are in the food that you eat accumulates in your colon, your liver, your blood, and in your face as a toxin that needs to be neutralized and eliminated.

All junk food and processed food is detrimental to your health and to your face. Once you stop punishing yourself and forcing your body to process toxic food products, you will have a chance of clearing your colon, liver, blood and the blemished conditions of your face.

One other thing, when the liver is congested and weak, it does not produce enough bile. Bile is needed in your small intestine to help digest fat and to promote good colon health. In your colon, bile helps to activate peristaltic action and thus prevents constipation.

How to have beautiful Face Skin Free of Acne

By: Rudy Silva

To have beautiful, soft, radiant skin you need to eat plenty of the right fresh fruits, vegetables, fiber, and water. Water and fiber are critical because it helps to move out toxins using the regular channels of elimination rather than using the skin as an exit point.

A word of Caution: Sudden face or body eruptions can indicate a potentially serious medical condition. If your blemishes look large and like welts, this could be caused by a serious medical condition and you would need to see your doctor immediately.

You can deal with you acne or skin problems by, also applying known nutritional and herbal remedies that give you better health and give your skin the nutrients it needs.

The beauty of your skin is a reflection of the health of your organs and upon your psychological condition. The way the inside of your body looks like is reflected on your face, physical appearance and your thoughts.

The amount of work you put into clearing your acne will determine how quickly you clear your face. By being consistent in following good health practices, you will be able to get rid of your acne.

If your acne is heredity, it is not true that you cannot do anything about it. If you know that other members of the family have had acne and previous generations also, then you are susceptible to acne. Knowing this, you can now arm yourself with some powerful nutritional and hygiene habits that will prevent acne from taking hold.

Traditional Medical Acne Treatments

I do not recommend using medications for acne, such as,

" Benzoyl peroxide - opens pores to kill bacteria

" Antibiotics - erythromycin, tetracycline - kill bacteria everywhere it goes in your body and skin.

" Retin A - helps to break open plugged pores, prevents new plugged pores, and helps to prevent scarring.

" Topical steroid, cortisone derivative, drug

These drugs and many others have serious side effects that you will want to avoid. If you are dark skinned and are using Benzoyl Peroxide, you can end up spotting your face as a side effect.

Most of these medications take three to ten weeks to provide results.

All my recommendations are for natural methods to relieve acne.

Different Remedies

In future articles, I will be outlining some of the remedies and steps you need to take to clear your acne. These remedies and natural foods that you use will not only help beatify your skin but will also help you to get rid of acne.

You may have to experiment to determine what works for you. By providing you with many choices, this gives you the best possible chance of you succeeding in gaining better health for your face. Also, not all remedies provide the same benefits to each person.

So this is where your experimental skills come in. You may have to test a few things, but in the process you will be learning about how to take care of your body. This information will stay with you a lifetime.

Acne - A Clean Face - Step 1 in a 12 Step Program

By: Rudy Silva

For those that need more than a special cream like Scotty's Face Cream, then you need to work harder to get rid of acne. Since acne is a condition that occurs from within your body and exhibits on the outside of your body, you need to,

" Attack acne from inside your body
" Attack acne from outside your body

If your acne is not to severe, all you might need is a good cream and need only to follow a few steps in my 12 step program to get you past the periods where acne is active.

If your acne is more severe, than you may have to follow my 12-step program, since acne is an expression of your whole body system and is a reflection of what is going on inside your mind, cell structure and internal organs.

Acne is an excessive toxic condition within your body, which the internal elimination organs are unable to eliminate. So your toxins are moved into your blood and excreted through your skin. It is an automatic survival mechanism your body initiates in an effort to protect the insides of your body - cells, liquid, blood, organs, and tissues.

There are 12 areas that you need to look at,

" Keep your face clean
" Using Scotty's acne face cream or your favorite face cream
" Relive your constipation and the tree day liquid fast
" Making changes to your diet
" Get plenty of sun, air, and water
" Vitamins you need to be taking
" Minerals you should be taking
" Special supplements to take
" Herbal mixture to use or drink
" Special detoxifying drinks or supplements to take
" Brushing your skin
" Change your attitude

Step 1: Keeping your face clean

If you use face cosmetics, you need to stop. Some cosmetics irritate the skin and can cause acne by plugging up your pores on your face. The cosmetics chemicals that can cause you the most skin and pore irritation and inflammation are:

mineral oil
lanolin
parabens
propylene glycol

Look at the label of the cosmetics you use. You will find that many cosmetics, soaps, and sunscreens contain these chemicals.

Find a water base make up, not an oil base. Find one that does not irritate your face and use it sparingly

When you wash your face don't use any commercial soaps since they are filled with chemicals that will irritate and worsen your acne condition. And don't excessive wash your face as this will dry your skin of the natural protective oil. Also, don't keep touching your face since you spread or add bacteria to it.

To wash your face use only,

" Castile hand or liquid soap
" Pure glycerin hand soap

You can pat your face with a clean hot face towel to bring circulation to your face and to help open and move the toxic material, in the pimple, to the surface. Do not scrub hard to burst a pimple but just scrub lightly to burst a pimple when it is ready to open.

Use the hot towel application only 2-3 times per week.

When a pimple is open do not continue to rub or scrub it. In fact do not pick or scratch an open pimple since this could create other sores or leave scars that are difficult to remove. Just washing your face with clean soap will keep your face free of toxic matter.

Keep in mind,

Whatever you put on your skin will move into your skin and into your bloodstream.

Most commercial creams, lotions, and soaps are filled with all kinds of chemicals that are toxic to your body. By using them you are making your liver work harder.

During the day or at night avoid resting your cheeks or chin on your hand(s) or arm(s). This can irritate your face and cause acne to breakout. When you sleep, try to sleep on your back and not with your face or side of the face into your pillow.

There you have it. Step 1, shows you how to keep your face clean to avoid getting acne or to help relieve acne.

What Causes Acne?

By: Alien

Although we know some of the biology behind acne we do not fully understand the various acne causes. For instance, what may be some of the causes for sudden acne breakouts?

Although some of the myths or semi-myths surrounding acne say that chocolate causes acne, sunburn causes acne, or oily skin causes acne, most researchers feel that one of the main causes of acne is an excessive amount of an oily substance called sebum.

Sebum is necessary for keeping your hair and skin lubricated and supple. Unfortunately during your adolescence, your body produces more sebum than is required. Perhaps this helps to explain the causes of acne in teenagers.

This substance combines with dead skin cells that are naturally occurring and serves to block your hair follicles. The blocking of your hair follicles prevents your sebum from escaping. This is thought to be one of the causes for acne in teenagers.

By blocking the escape of sebum, your sebum becomes trapped beneath the surface of your skin. This condition results in a favorable environment for the growth of bacteria. This bacteria then multiplies and your skin becomes red and inflamed. This condition results in what we call a pimple.

Testosterone which is a male hormone is responsible for causing your body to produce excess sebum. Both boys and girls produce testosterone. However during puberty your body changes how it reacts to the presence of this hormone.

The abnormal reaction to testosterone which appears during your adolescent years causes your skin to become excessively oily. By the time you reach your early 20s your body has normalized the way it reacts to testosterone and your acne will normally clear up. Adult acne is much less common than teenage acne.

Unfortunately acne appears to be partially hereditary. However most researchers do not know why it is that some folks are affected when others skate by.

We have begun to figure out that some lifestyle conditions can aggravate acne. Some of those conditions include diet, certain medications, stress, skin irritation, and even certain hormonal activities like menstrual cycles.

Some of the medications that seemed to be associated with having acne include some of the following: lithium, barbiturates, halogens, androgens, and anabolic steroids used for bodybuilding. Some of the dietary causes are thought to be related to skim milk products.

Some folks believe there is an association between foods such as chocolate, fast foods, and pimples. However most researchers have not found any statistical evidence that these foods cause or aggravate acne.

More recent research from the scientific community has been looking at the narrowing of your hair follicles as being one cause of acne. Your hair follicles might become restricted because of a number of possible causes. These include an excess shedding of your cells within your follicle, or what is called abnormal cell binding, or even water retention which will cause your skin to swell.

This narrowing of your hair follicles keep your dead cells from leaving. This entrapment causes an excess buildup beneath your skin. This buildup when combined with sebum creates an ideal condition for acne.

Most folks find themselves tempted to squeeze and pop their pimples. However doing this will only spread the bacteria to other areas of your skin creating a worsening of your condition. By popping your pimples you may also create scarring which can very easily become permanent. Popping your pimples is one of the causes of acne scars.

Even touching your face can make your acne worse. We understand that touching your face is a difficult habit to break-we all have a tendency to touch our faces numerous times throughout the day.

Unfortunately for folks with acne touching your face is a big no no. Your hands contain oil and bacteria which makes your acne worse. You must insure that anything coming in contact with your face is clean. Included in this list are telephones, glasses and hair.

It is especially important to keep your hair away from your face. Also hats, headbands, and other clothing accesories should not be allowed to contact your face.

Acne Skin Care - Your Best Acne Prone Skin Care

By: Alien

We all know that acne skin care is important. If you are of acne age you may be asking yourself these questions: How to prevent acne? How to treat acne? How to cure acne? What is the best acne skin care? Is there a best acne skin care product?

Skin care becomes especially important if you are suffering from acne. Keeping your skin as healthy as possible is one of the big secrets for helping to keep acne under control. Maintaining a healthy skin means keeping your skin clean as well as protecting it from the damaging effects of the sun and also cosmetics.

Keep Your Skin Clean - Your Best Acne Prone Skin Care

You want to use a soap that is gentle, a specialized acne cleaner, or an acne prevention skin care solution for your skin at least once or twice a day. Make sure you avoid scrubbing your skin aggressively as this may cause further aggravation of your acne. You want to use a cloth that is soft to moisten your face and apply these soaps or cleansers to your skin from your hairline down to your neck. You want to be sure to rinse these soap or cleansers thoroughly with lots of water and pat your face with a soft towel to dry.

People having skin that is especially oily may need to use an astringent. However make sure you use the astringent with care. Make sure that you only apply it to the areas of your face which are most oily.

You want to stop the use of this astringent if your skin starts to become irritated. Consulting with a dermatologist is best if you feel your skin is oily enough to require an astringent.

If your skin is especially sensitive, use a product that provides acne care for sensitive skin.

Believe it or not hair care is also a big part of taking care of your skin. You want to make sure to shampoo to your hair two to three times every week. You also want to keep your hair off your face as much as possible. If you have oily hair you may want to wash your hair once every day.

Guard your Skin from the Damaging Effects of the Sun

A sun tan may look great but too much sun will dry out your skin. This may make your acne a bit less noticeable by this effect is only temporary. Your ance will flare up again once your skin gets accustomed to being exposed to the sun. Too much sun will also increase your risk of skin damage. This may cause your skin to prematurely age and may even result in cancer to your skin. Most medications being used today to treat acne may cause your skin to become more sensitive to the sun and more susceptible to damage. You want to insure you apply a good sunscreen before exposing yourself to the sun.

Be Careful with the Makeup

In a perfect world your best choice for healthy skin is not wearing any makeup at all. If you do choose to wear makeup, choose makeup that does not clog your pores. You will find that these products are labeled as noncomedogenic. However these may still result in acne for some people. Most importantly you want to stay away from makeup having an oily base. Make sure you read the labels with care and use sparingly.

Shaving and Acne

You want to try both safety razors and electric razors to find which is the most comparable. You don't want to be using safety razors that have dull blades. Changing of the blade every two to three shaves is a good idea. You might have to shave around pimples or blemishes to keep from cutting them. Make sure that you soften your whiskers as much as is possible with shaving cream and water. If you are having lots of breakouts on a particular day you may want to skip shaving for that day.

Try to Keep from Touching Your Skin

I know how tempting it can be to try to pop your pimples by squeezing them. Please avoid this at all costs! By popping your pimples you are inviting trouble. Popping your pimples will result in openings on your skin that allow bacteria in. Permanent scarring can also result by you popping your pimples.

Keep your hands away from your face as much as is humanly possible. Some folks touch their skin without thinking about it. You must keep in mind that your hands are oily and dirty and can spread bacteria all across your face.

You can bring acne under control. Prescription medications, otc acne skin care product, or acne skin care treatments can be a big help in clearing up your skin and fighting the bacteria which causes acne. However we can help the process along as much as possible by taking good care of the skin on your face.

Acne - Over the Counter Acne Medications

By: Alien

Acne Treatment-Topical Acne Medications That Can Be Purchased Over-the-Counter

You can find many types of acne remedies that can be purchased over the counter. Most folks, when dealing with an acne problem, well first of all stop by their local pharmacy to purchase an over-the-counter acne remedy. This is usually done on a recommendation from a friend or maybe even an ad they saw on TV.

However the best thing you can do for yourself is to consult with a health care practitioner before attempting to self medicate. Even though most acne is a condition that is fairly benign, your doctor will advise you on an acne product or acne skin care products that best suit you. Your health care practitioner may also offer advice and treatment suggestions based on the type of acne you are suffering with.

Most of us find it difficult to decide on the acne product to use to treat our acne. This is because there are many products on the market for treating acne. Advice from friends may or may not be reliable. This is because every skin condition is unique and what works for one person may not work for another.

The best thing for you to do is to gather knowledge concerning acne care and the active ingredients available in acne medications. This will enable you to make a more informed decision concerning the type of acne solution or medication to use.

One of the most effective and popular ingredients found in acne solutions is benzoyl peroxide. With my son’s condition we have found that a solution containing 10% benzoyl peroxide was the most effective and one of the best acne skin care products. It can be found in various acne gel, acne lotions or cleansers and works by eliminating the bacteria which can cause acne whiteheads and acne blackheads commonly known as pimples. Products containing benzoyl peroxide are in my opinion, the best skin care line for acne.

Benzoyl peroxide is also very effective for removing your dead skin cells. These accumulate on your skin and can result in the development of pimples. These dead skin cells combine together with your bodies’ naturally occurring sebum resulting in whiteheads and blackheads.

Benzoyl peroxide has also been shown to be effective and safe in fighting lesions. You can also use it after your acne has cleared up to keep your skin free from the bacteria that causes acne. The one and only side effect that may be associated with using it is dry skin. Dried skin can be avoided by cutting back on the frequency of use. Care must be taken to keep benzoyl peroxide from hair and clothing because it can act as a bleach.

Salicylic acid is another ingredient that has been found to be successful in acne medications. With my son's condition we found that a solution containing 2% salicylic acid works well. The salicylic acid also works to clear up your dead skin cells which tend to clog your pores. As with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid should continue to be used on your skin after your acne has cleared up. This may prevent outbreaks of acne from occurring. Again the only side effect may be irritated and dry skin.

[As an aside, Proactiv or Proactive Solution being pushed by so called “stars” on TV, contains only 2% benzoyl peroxide and no salicylic acid. In my son’s case, we used Proactiv Solution for 3 months with absolutely no results. My opinion and just MY opinion? - JUNK!]

Some of the other ingredients you may find in acne medications may include sulfur and resorcinol. Resorcinol may cause the top layer of your skin to begin to peel. This peeling will also remove the dead skin cells which clog your pores. Rresorcinol is often times combine with the ingredient sulfur.

The way that sulfur affects your acne condition is not known, however sulfur has be used with success on acne conditions for more than 50 years. In addition to resorcinol, sulfur may be combined with other ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Most times you will not find sulfur being used by itself because of its unpleasant and strong odor.

Of all the ingredients we have mentioned for fighting acne, the ingredient benzoyl peroxide might be the most versatile and one of the best acne treatment over-the-counter. You will find it used in a number of different products from acne cleansers to cleansing bars. You will also find it in acne creams, lotions, and gels that are directly applied to your skin. You usually use these products once or twice per day.

These acne skincare products should be applied on and around your acne pimples and surrounding areas for maximum effectiveness. However try to keep from getting benzoyl peroxide in your eyes, nose and mouth is this might cause inflammation or irritation of these areas.

Acne Medicine - Prescription Acne Medicine

By: Alien

When Over-the-Counter Acne Medications Don't seem to be Working

Most folks suffering from an acne condition attempt to treat their condition without first seeing a doctor. However when you first notice any unusual condition of your skin it always makes sense to check with a dermatologist. Even if it is mild acne, your doctor will provide you with information and advice on acne treatments.

If your acne condition is not too serious it might be treated with acne over-the-counter medications. However if you are suffering from a severe case of acne your dermatologist may suggest prescription acne medicine. Even if your acne is not too severe but simply a moderate case, prescription acne medicine might be more effective than over-the-counter acne medication.

Two types of acne prescription acne medications are available. These are topical and oral. Oral prescription acne medications might include antibiotics. Antibiotics can also be found as a lotion. Some ingredients that may be included in topical acne prescription medications are zinc or retinoids.

Of the antibiotics, tetracycline is the most common antibiotic used for treating acne. Tetracycline kills the bacteria that is responsible for causing acne and it helps reduce inflammation as well. Treatments with antibiotics, although effective, may take a number of weeks or perhaps months to be effective.

Antibiotics should continue to be used for a time even after your acne has cleared up. One of the most common side effects associated with tetracycline is a heightened sensitivity to sunlight. This increased sensitivity may result in increased susceptibility to sunburns. Some of the other side effects associated with tetracycline are dizziness, upset stomach, and hives.

For some women, an increase in vaginal yeast may be experienced while taking tetracycline. Another side effect for pregnant women and children under the age of 12 is tooth discoloration. Therefore in these cases your doctor may not prescribe it.

Acne Ointments-most folks experience fewer complications with antibiotic ointments as opposed to oral antibiotics. These antibiotic acne ointments are also effective in killing acne causing bacteria. When these ointments are used with some over-the-counter topical treatments containing benzoyl peroxide, it is found that the bacteria may be prevented from developing antibiotic resistance.

Retinoids-retinoids are derived from vitamin A. Retinoids are found in the form of acne lotions or acne cream and are applied to the skin directly. These topical retinoid acne medications are effective for treating acne whiteheads as well as acne blackheads by helping to open up pores that are clogged. One of the most common side effects of these topical retinoids may be dry skin.

Oral retinoids may be prescribed for the more severe cases of acne which refuse to respond to other types of treatment. These oral retinoids help to make your upper layer of skin peel. This action opens your pores. Oral retinoids will also keep your body from producing excess sebum. As we learned before, sebum he is the substance which causes oily skin.

Some serious side effects have been found to be associated with these oral retinoids. Oral retinoids have been known to cause birth defects. Sometimes a doctor may require a women of child bearing age to take two forms of birth control if being treated with oral retinoids. They have also been found to cause depression and liver damage, therefore regular medical attention is required to insure that you are not being adversely affected by your oral retinoid treatment.

Other medications-it has been found that birth control pills sometimes are effective in treating women with acne. research has shown that they change one's hormone levels and might effectively reduce the effects that testosterone plays in causing acne. Recently it has been discovered that zinc may be an effective acne treatment in some cases. As always make sure you discuss various treatments with your dermatologist to come up with the most effective acne treatment and strategy for you or particular case.

Acne Treatments and Your Dermatologist

By: Alien

Although you may feel that a mild acne condition can be treated on your own, it may be a good idea for you to visit a dermatologist if your skin begins to break out. Your dermatologist will provide you with valuable information on the acne cause as well as options for treatment. Additionally there exists a condition called keratosis pilaris. This condition is often times confused with acne. A dermatologist will be able to determine which condition you are experiencing so you do not waste your time with the wrong types of treatments.

Even though your less severe cases of acne may be treated effectively with over-the-counter acne medications, cases that are more severe require a doctor's attention. Physical as well as emotional suffering can be caused by acne and may even lead to scarring that becomes permanent. If your acne condition is not responding to over-the-counter acne medicine, a consultation with your dermatologist should be arranged.

Before your first consultation with your dermatologist for your acne condition, it is a good idea to write down as much information as possible about your acne. Your doctor will ask you questions concerning the background of your acne condition. For instance, your doctor may want to know the duration of your acne condition, what form your acne takes (whiteheads, blackheads, lesions etc.), and what method of treatment if any have you engaged in. Your doctor may also want to know if other members of your family have or have had acne and how severe it was.

If your acne is severe enough your acne treatment might include oral acne medications. You want to be prepared to inform your doctor if certain acne medicine might result in an allergic reaction. If you are a girl you may be asked to describe your menstrual period and if you are a boy you may be asked about your shaving habits.

Your dermatologist may suggest a choice of treatments so your knowledge about the various options available may help you to make an educated decision. For instance, your doctor may prescribe antibiotics to kill the bacteria that cause acne. Antibiotics for acne treatment may be taken orally or applied as a lotion to the skin. If your acne is sever enough, both forms of antibiotic treatments may be required.

Topical treatments may include benzoyl peroxide and/or retinoic acid. These solutions are usually prescribed in a gel form and in some cases may cause a reddening or drying of the skin.

In more severe cases physical treatments for acne may be suggested. These physical treatments may include the surgical removal of whiteheads and blackheads. These treatments in addition might also include the draining of cysts.

It is important to follow your doctor's directions regardless of the form of treatment you decide to follow. You want to insure you do not take more or less of an acne medicine then your doctor prescribes. You will want to continue treatment even after your acne clears up or until advised by your dermatologist to stop. Failure to follow your prescribed routine may result in a recurrence of your acne.

You want to be sure you remain informed about your acne condition and to get the information that you need. Make sure to jot down questions as they occur to you so that you can present them to your doctor during your next visit. Some of the more common questions may include: When will I start to see results? What type of treatment might be best for me? How long will my treatment last? How should I take care of my skin? Are there any side effects of the acne medicine? Can I still use makeup? How might I prevent or get rid of acne scars?

Sometimes a person's treatment for severe acne may continue for quite some time. Make sure to get your questions or concerns addressed each time you visit your doctor concerning your treatment for acne. Make sure you become well-informed concerning the treatments and strategies available to both prevent and get rid of your acne.

Acne - Acne Scars Help and Treatment Options

By: Alien

Most folks who have suffered with moderate or mild acne will not end up with serious scarring. However people who suffer from severe acne may end up with acne scarring. This does not mean you have to give up hope. New treatments for acne can keep scarring to a minimum and existing acne scars can be removed using various techniques.

Pimples can result in discolored patches of skin. This discoloration is not really a scar and these "acne scars" fade within one year and will usually clear up. We consider skin defects or marks that are noticeable for more than one year to be scars. These acne scars can usually be treated and this acne scars treatment is discussed a bit further down this page.

How to Prevent Acne Scars

Through a program of active treatment and self-control acne scars may be minimized or prevented. Picking your pimples is something you should avoid at all costs. Some folks attempt to pop acne whiteheads or acne blackheads by squeezing them. But this is something you definitely do not want to do. This will not only result in a bacteria infection but can damage your skin leading to permanent acne scarring.

Over-the-counter medications can often times be used to treat mild cases of acne. However those with severe cases of acne should see a dermatologist. Your dermatologist may prescribe topical ointments for you to use on your skin and also may prescribe oral medications. In some situations your health care provider may remove your acne whiteheads or acne blackheads as well as drain any nodules that are pus filled. Your dermatologist will use instruments in this acne surgery procedure that have been sterilized. These are procedures that you should not attempt on your own.

One of the causes for pimples forming on your skin is because of bacteria. Bacteria can inflame and damage your skin. After you have cleared up your acne, your skin may have a discolored appearance. This discolored appearance is part of your body's healing process and will most likely disappear after a period of time.

You may be prescribed medications such as Alpha-Hydroxy, Renova, or Retin-A to help speed up this healing process. Exposure to sunlight may damage your skin and should be minimized during this healing process. Sunscreens are always a good idea.

Most importantly you must keep yourself from picking the scabs that form over your old acne lesions. Scabs are part of your body's healing process and by picking them you expose your skin to bacterial infections and you delay the time required for your scars to heal.

Acne Scars - How to Remove Them

If you are looking to remove acne scars, you may be have some questions about how to get rid of acne scars. Questions such as: Can laser surgery clear acne scars? How about cosmetic surgery for acne scars? Is there an effective home treatment for acne scars? How does chemical treatment for acne scars work? What about treatment of cystic acne scars? What is the best treatment for depressed acne scars? Are there any effective creams for acne scars?

If you have scars left behind from acne you (and your dermatologist) can treat them in various ways. If you have scars that are not very severe, a chemical peel may be applied to your skin. This chemical peel may help to remove the top layer of your skin and allow the skin cells underneath to rejuvenate or heal.

Laser treatment for acne scars or dermabrasion may be prescribed for scarring that is more severe. Lasers can help remove the layer of skin that is damaged and cause the skin underneath to tighten thereby raising the depression that is caused by the scar. Some folks find this procedure to be a bit painful. Your dermatologist may use a topical anesthetic to help alleviate your pain. Most folks find that the healing process after having acne scar laser treatment takes between 3 to 10 days.

The process of dermabrasion removes your scars by scraping away the skin's surface where the scarring is occurring. After this dermabrasion process the healing of your skin results in a new layer of skin being formed. Both laser treatments and dermabrasion will result in your skin turning red, but this discoloration will disappear after a couple of months.

As always, make sure that you consult with your dermatologist before embarking on any type of acne scars remedies.

Free Acne Home Remedies - Four That You Can Start Using Today!

By: Joe Stewart

I'll never forget how people were treated at school if they suffered from acne. It's simply amazing to me how much cruelty can be inflicted, by children of all things.

Most everyone suffers from some form of acne while growing up. Some individuals may have it more on a more visible area, such as their face or neck, while others may have it on their back or buttocks. I've had my own share of problems with facial acne, mostly just the occasional big zit that looked like a third eye, hurt like crazy and lasted for days. These were especially wonderful when there was some type of social event coming up. You feel cursed.

There are some homemade recipes for acne cures that work very well. I would always be willing to try a few free acne home remedies before spending the money to see a dermatologist and then paying for a prescription.

Here are a few free acne home remedies that you can try before you have to see the doctor.

#1. Oatmeal facials - These are known to be helpful for some people. Simply make a "mask" and apply it to the problem area a couple times per week. Only use warm water, not hot, and let the mask dry on your covered area until it completly dries before washing it off. You can also use dried (damp) oatmeal to wash your face with as this will help you to clean out your pores.

#2. Change your diet - I realize that this is easier said than done, especially as a teenager, but it will help you a lot. A good rule of thumb is to avoid anything that comes in a bag or wrapper. This means pretty much anything processed has got to go. You'll be amazed at how much better you feel both physically and mentally if you stick with a plan of only eating healthy foods for 3-4 weeks. Fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats and no garbage.

#3. Get plenty of exercise - You probably think that you're reading a weight loss article, right? Well, if you need to lose some then here's a chance to knock out two birds with one stone. I'm not talking about getting a "little" exercise, but about starting regular workouts that will build muscle, get rid of poisonous toxins that have built up in your body and also help to build your self esteem. Don't dabble in it. Dive in and do it regularly until you break a really good sweat! You'll be amazed at the benefits of exercise not only for your acne, but for the rest of "you" too.

#4. Green Tea - You may have heard this before. Green tea is becoming more and more popular and is now being recognized as an excellent antioxident. This stuff works like a charm for helping to detox your body. Put the soda pop down and make this your beverage of choice. Some think that it's great without sugar. I personally like my tea any way. Hot, cold, with or without sugar, but I've found that it quenches my thirst much better if I drink it without sugar. I do recommend that you moderate your sugar intake. Try honey, another fantastic antoxidant, instead.

There are other free acne home remedies that you may find helpful. Make certain to see your doctor before trying anything too extravagant or if your acne becomes worse. Good luck to you!

Chinese Medicine for Acne Treatment

By: Alien

Effectively treating acne in adults and teens can be difficult. The use of Chinese medicine for acne treatment approaches the problem from a different point of view.

Chinese Medicine for Acne Treatment

The underlying idea behind Traditional Chinese Medicine is that any disorder or illness is the result of a lack of harmony with the environment. This principle applies to the treatment of acne. The Western approach to acne would focus on the immediate cause of the lesions themselves. It would concern itself with the cleaning of pores or the killing of microorganisms that cause the infections. Chinese Medicine works on the assumption that the body can deal with blocked pores and with any type of infections by itself, and if it is failing to do so, it must be the result of some form of disharmony.

Both acupuncture and herbal remedies are used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat acne with herbal remedies being the more common method. The disharmony is thought to be heat on a Meridian Channel, or a Zang Fu organ, or even a fundamental substance. The removal of this “heat” would free the energy flow and enable the body to clear the infection. Convention Medical treatments tend to be quicker and less troublesome for acne, but are often ineffective or have undesirable side effects. The Chinese method offers a more balanced and long term cure.

There are two methods of acupuncture normally used to treat acne. The first is designed to remove the “heat” from the essential Meridian Channel. There are five different heat patterns that may be associated with the acne. They are lung heat, stomach heat, toxic heat, blood heat, and damp heat. Each separate pattern involves needle insertion at different points, and like many diagnoses in TCM requires a bit of trial and error to determine the actual cause. There is a second method used for treating the lesions themselves directly. It is called, “surrounding the dragon” and involves needle insertion at local points in a circle around the actual lesion itself.

Herbal remedies are used more often and are generally more effective. They involve a mixture of internal and external applications. The internal herbal treatments are also directed toward the five possible points of disharmony, and once again a certain amount of trial and error is needed. The external treatments involve direct application of pastes and creams to the lesions themselves.

A history of the patient is indicated in the treatment, and may offer clues as to the most effective points for treatment. Factors involving diet and the overall health of the patient and the strengthening of his immune system would also be involved in the treatment plan under Chinese Medicine. Again, the idea is that acne is an unnatural condition and its presence indicates something has gone out of balance in the patient. The treatment would seek to restore the balance enabling the body to use its own resources to clear the acne.

Laser Treatment for Acne Scar Removal

By: Tom Disouza

Acne scar laser treatment stands out among all acne treatments in effectiveness. Acne scarring comes under cosmetic disfigurements posing psychological problems to the patients. It is notable here that most of these can very well be corrected using laser as skin resurfacing modality.

Acne scar laser treatment involves using a light beam from a carbon dioxide laser. The latter vaporizes the upper layers of damaged skin at specific and controlled levels of penetration.

Development of selective photothermolysis

The development of selective photothermolysis has caused significant advances in the use of laser technology for skin resurfacing. The improved technology has helped reduce residual thermal damage. By using shorter pulse durations of laser light, the minimizing of thermal damage significantly reduced the risk for scarring on the skin.

The latest procedures involve an intense beam of light to destroy the skin tissue instantly. As of now, carbon dioxide and Er:YAG laser reportedly offer best acne treatments. They are able to perform highly specific vaporization of tissue using powerfully focused light to precisely remove the skin layers. Thus they vaporize the ridges of scars and wrinkles and smoothing out the surface of the skin.

Best lasers for acne scar removal

Er: YAG laser offers the best acne scar laser treatment. The benefit of Er:YAG laser for superficial to moderate acne scar removal stems from the fact that this laser produces less thermal damage compared to other types of laser.

The short pulsed Er:YAG laser has a water absorption coefficient 16 times greater than that of the carbon dioxide laser. The water in the tissue absorbs most of the energy of these lasers. That results in minimal optical penetration depth and thermal damage.

The more limited penetration of these lasers into the skin triggers a histo-pathological improvement less pronounced than that of carbon dioxide laser. However, Er:YAG laser shows potential as an acne scar removal treatment especially in the treatment of mild to moderate superficial rhytides and scars. In fact it is the best acne scar laser treatment for acne scars that are not very deep.

By: MarkBellows

When talking about skin care, the number one issue that always comes up is the problem with acne. Many people think that acne is only an issue with teenagers and adolescents, but studies show that even those past the adolescence stage can have major problems with acne due to many factors such as hygiene, environment, eating habits and genes. Acne can be caused by so many things that it would be impossible for people of all ages not to have it. Although what most people don’t know is that there are a lot of different types or kind of acne, more than ten classifications if I’m not mistaken and they are classified by age, cause, genes, gender, geography and race. For example, there is Adult acne, which can be caused by a diverse range of factors, such as hormonal imbalances, pollutants, elements related to stress and responses to medications of different kinds. On the other hand, there is also Acne Neonatorium is also commonly known as baby acne. It is caused by the transfer of hormones from mother to child, which stimulates the secretion of sebum in baby skin. You also have Acne Cosmetic, which as the name suggests, is related to the kind of cosmetics you may have used which perhaps did not agree with your skin. In this kind of acne, your skin and pores have reacted adversely to various ingredients contained in your cosmetics. And as it is possible to have acne die to a cosmetic reaction, there is also Acne Medicametosa occurs as a side effect of some medications. These include oral contraceptives, as well as other drugs that contain potassium iodide, potassium bromide and chlorine. As for the race and geography factor, you have Acne Keloidalis, which is generally found among people of African stock. Most of the eruption in this kind of acne is concentrated around the neck. For the gene factory, there is Acne Congoblata, which is normally caused by hereditary factors. This kind of acne causes severe scarring on the face and back. Worse still, there is not very much that you can do about it. And for gender, you have Acne Fulminans, a rather serious form of acne, in which the eruption is accompanied by fever and body ache. This kind of acne mainly affects males and erupts suddenly. Other symptoms of this kind of acne include a high white blood cell count, as well as loss of appetite and deep scarring. These are only some examples of the different classifications of acne.

Generally, different acne classifications, would entail different treatment methods and skin regimen. But if what you have is a severe form of acne, and you’ve tried almost any other treatment, one drug that has been tested and proven to prevent, if not stop acne altogether is Roaccutane. It is an ant-acne drug treatment mostly prescribed by doctors dealing with patients that are suffering from severe acne and has tried most other treatments with no success at all. It that has been successful in dealing with severe acne although its success has been somewhat shadowed by some grim reports and stories of some of its possible side effects which may included mental and emotional problems that may even lead to suicide. So always be careful, as with any other drug, Roaccutane may do wonders for you and your skin if taken correctly and with doctor’s strictest advise, but if abused and used in the wrong way, it may also bring about serious mental, physical and emotional issues that may even be harder to deal with than your acne problem.
